Opening Saturday November 6th, is the massively cool "Thinkspace 5 Year Anniversary Show"! My piece "American Cracker" will be there in full effect..! Thinkspace always knew how to throw down the party, and this show is no exception=While spotlighting the forerunners in the contemporary art movement, Thinkspace sets the precedent for all gallery's of quality to follow. I've read some recommendations from some prestigious highbrow art blogs plugging this show, and to me Thinkspace is simply following suit with groundbreaking work that guides the movement.

This all seems like alot, but its all run pretty smoothly! Heres a bunch of pics, work in progress shots=most notably the uber-successful "Beyond Eden 2010" event{the"Frustrated Incorporated" piece=Thanks Andrew Dokken!}, "Horrorwood" at WWA Gallery {The Ryden homage}{Thanks Rob!}, "Bad Dads" a Wes Anderson tribute art show{Thanks Ken!}, a London Miles Gallery UK group show coming in November{the "Ringo"piece}, and Dirty Pilot.com just released a limited edition print of the "Bad Mutha' Wizard"{they look sweeeet! Thanks Alan!}..also coming up is "Revelations"{a "revealing Banksy" exhibition} in the UK later in October where I'll be showing some prints{Thanks Mason!}, the "Thinkspace Gallery 5 Year Anniversary" show in November, Have one or two things cookin for the Art Basel event in December, and slowly developing a possible animated project...With all of these things going on it still doesn't FEEL like its enough=Like a dope fiend with a big calming rush that fades, and then the gut tightens drooling for bigger? Addicted to deadlines and amassing knowledge in this twisted art world=Its a Daily quest to cop the dope. Im just glad to have friends that are wayyyyy smarter than I!

My main gallery dude told me to be more verbal and to start a blog. He didnt know,man i've had this blog for 3 years but I guess its all been visual. I've always cringed at the soap operas that artists spew and maybe I should spew .Here's verbal spew..Latest Painting::I'm calling this "Another Perfect Day"{ a title lifted from one of my fave Motorhead albums{?} of the 80's} and its a big ol' 24 x 36 acrylic on canvas. Call me a wanna bee but man I figure I might as well just go for it and be a blatant Todd Schorr scavenger. It's visually dense as a "Todd", and I tried not to look at his work to influence it. About the only motif mirroring his is that it has hill's in the distance. It just has the "Todd" celebratorial "everthing but the kitchen sink" feel, and the whole painting is about Miseryland, and how pop culure has mutated our mind's into fast-food. There's alot of purple/grey's and pink/grey's going on. I've switched my palate {in hind-sight= probably for the past 11 months} to primarily using purple greys, pink and violet. I'll use light blue to offset stuff, but the work has taken a monochromatic pastellic tonal vibe..Probably because I wanted to simplify things..and by judging the piece=Damn, I just realized that Ive made shit all the more complicated..Doh! Zoinks! etc

Mucho thanks to Jensen for his patience= This piece took awhile but, Hey=Worked out pretty great actually. Emulating someones style and brushstrokes is pretty easy when the person that youre emulating freaking rawks! When I did the norman rockwell/ringwald piece I couldnt pull off a rockwell technique that wasnt actually from the reference=it all wound up looking like me, and I seriously would like to return to studying his style.

Hey-Just filling in whats been going on=The next one will be a nod/parody/satire/homage to this awesome painting by Robert Williams. I've always loved this as one of my fave paintings ever, and have had it taped to my wall the past 2 months, staring at it and wondering how I could do it justice without losing its thunder. Im just going to make it a willy wonka themed thing and just have fun painting it! Wish me luck:)

I did this for a David Lynch Tribute show{The Big Tuna I think its called}-coming up at The Alcove Gallery in Decatur GA and Did another for Distinction Gallery show in Aug.. I did this one using only black,white and violet..Came out cool in the end and maybe I should do more monochromatic stuff, for It was pretty fun and time-wise= it was a breeze. I've wanted to illustrate this image for over a year now, but Travis Louie did an eraserhead painting at RoqLaRue and it totally blew me away= so I was gun shy to do it..But aw hell..I did it anyway{as usual;P}

24 x 30 Acrylic on Canvas. I want to keep doing Breakfast Club mash-up's with old classic paintings, but theyre totally time consuming trying to emulate the painters palate's/styles. Next is maybe "Nighthawks"/Breakfast Club but Im not sure. Whenever I research paintings on the net I always run across that Ron English usually did it first and usually better..Thats why I've only visited the mans website maybe 3 times in my life, because he's already done alot of ideas that Ive been contemplating and I could never top his stuff, so why even try. I know he's done a "Nighthawks" parody {like a billion others have} and he did it with the diner filled with sharks as if it were a gigantic fishtank..Genius! How could I top that?

Flew back from LA yesterday-Everything is a Success. The show went over extremely well in every way possible. Massive humble "Thank You's" to all who came and all who will come.. and all who gave props and showed interest, and to all of the kindness from people that I've been doing business with, yet never "met". Wow. Thanks to my Thinkspace peeps, we banged out about 20 gallerys in 11hrs on Saturday, and I got to finally see all of the painters work LIVE= that Ive been worshipping for the longest=McMillan-Hardgrave-May-Limon-Barr-Joncas-Cooper-Dobb-Vivanco-Spoor-Araujo-English-Louie and a brain melting magnitude of more..I've been so inspired that I bought like $300 in oil paints today to see what realms they might open. If anything, just to expand some horizons, because change is good! Here's some pic's from the Thinkspace show that's up until April 3rd I believe;)

It was a quicky with the same ol'familiar theme/images..yet it kinda works, and most importantly it now belongs to Trish from the gallery who was super cool and accommodating {Thanks Trish!} 7 of 12 pieces sold that night, and actually sold my entire portfolio. Totally Happy that everyone was happy and walked away with some cool art, and seriously disturbed smiles on their faces. Atlanta Rocks for sure.

This is 18 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas. Mainly a portfolio piece, and would probably look cool as the cover of a comic book maybe. It'll probably sell to someone cool in a gallery somewhere, and I'll price it cheap because its not really the direction that I'm going, as far as subject matter-wise. This thing was painted from a sketch with no references used-Its all just painted fast outta' my head.
